Sunglasses! The last time I traveled (to Costa Rica!) I forgot my sunglasses. Sad trombone. Don’t forget yours!
PS. The sweet Fidatto chalk art behind me is at Atlas Purveyors in Boulder!

The nightmare of planning out my schedule for SXSW got a little easier when I found out about the Lean Startup Track. It’s basically like someone looked into my Google Reader, and invited everyone I read to go speak in the same room. If you’re interested in startups, I highly recommend checking out this track. From 9:30a to 6p on Saturday, there are six talks & panels from people like Eric Ries, Dave McClure, David Cancel, Hiten Shah, Dan Martell, and more. All in the same room at the AT&T Conference Center.
A raincoat. You heard it from @mattgist.
It will be mine.
Apple is setting up an extra temporary Apple store in Austin. Unless it shapes up that the line ends up being the best party in town, I will not be heading over at 5pm on Friday. I’ll make my way over during one of the breaks Saturday or Sunday. And — damnit — it will be mine.
The only big question that still remains that I need your help on: should I go 3G or 3G-less?
Power cords! Aidan Nulman shared this amazing secret with me at a random lunch we had at Vail a couple months ago. If you bring your own short power cord with a splitter, you can share the wall outlet with that dude who is using it to charge his iPad. Notice I said share a wall outlet with a guy. I did not say do what’s in photo 2. Please don’t burn down Austin by pulling this shit :)

Did you see the post I put up about the PARTIES?! I ain’t 21 anymore, and the heartburn comes a knocking after a night of par-tay-ing.
A guy I know got his laptop stolen at GDC last week. This laptop had company confidential information on it. Not cool. Compounding the bummer is the fact that it took about 2 days for him to get a new machine up to speed.
After this happened, I went on the internetz, and I found a 3TB external USB3.0 HD for $160. Then I turned on this little guy:

I highly recommend Time Machine’ing (or whatever PC’s use) your laptop before you head down to SXSW. Losing everything and spending all that time to get back up to speed can be a real bummer.
Also, password protect your laptop. Not just the screensaver part. Check off “Disable automatic login” in the security section of your Settings app. Otherwise all someone has to do is power cycle your machine to get around the screensaver password.
